How do you Calculate the Diameter?
The diameter is simply the length of a line segment that goes straight through the center of a circle. A cone is defined as an object with a circular base and sloping sides meeting in an apex above. Its diameter can refer to either:
- The diameter of its base (when measured across its middle point) or
- The apex width (when measured from side to side).
Either definition will yield the same result.
4. Diameter of a Cylinder
A cylinder has two parallel bases that are congruent circles and whose edges touch one another on all sides. The diameter can refer to either:
- The diameter across one base or
- One-half the length between both bases.
